Story of Shinya Shokudo
The name “Shinya Shokudo” translates to Midnight Diner in English and originates from a well-known Japanese manga. The manga highlights tasty meals being made, served, and consumed by customers who tell their story of living in a time of social crises, inequality, and more. Although the food offered at this small restaurant hidden in an obscure alley was limited to one item, the Master Chef would readily cook anything to order. This human touch, his kindness and willingness to listen has made his restaurant a gathering place for a band of eccentric down-and-out regulars who have witnessed and experienced different aspects of life. These enchanting tales add flavor to the Master Chef’s simple yet conceivably delicious meals, creating a wholesome and satisfying experience. We would like to make Shinya Shokudo a place of comfort, an escape, a patient ear, and a sense of home where nostalgia is brought to life with friends and family around.
